Mission Accomplished

Hello friends. The internet is abuzz with rumors we are told. Thank you for your concern. Algernon Cadwallader has officially been laid to rest. We were 7 years old. That's 49 in dog years. A message from one of your fearless leaders...

Your friend Tank wants to say something to the people! I've had an amazing past 5 years touring and writing music with my best friends Peter and Joe. So heres the news: I'm having a kid and got a nursing job! I'm stoked about a little Tank running around with drum sticks. Unfortunately I'm unable to tour anymore.

Thanks so much to all the people who have let me crash at their houses, use their hot water and their Dr. Bronners. I love every one of you and I can't thank you enough! Without being in this band I wouldn't have gotten to see and enjoy all the amazing places around the world we had the chance to play.

If you see me around say hi and give me a hug. Thanks for making the past 5 years incredible.

I love you,

Tank!

From the author of this blog...

It has been a pleasure to narrate our story to you for the past 2 and a half years. The world spins pretty damn fast when you're having a good time. Looking back on these old posts I am glad I wrote it all (not even close) down. Thankfully there was an audience otherwise I doubt I would have taken the time.

I feel obligated to announce that our friends and listeners have been each bit as (way more) important to us as (than) we have been to them. The things we did, people we met, and places we saw during Algernon Cadwallader have changed my life forever. Thank you so much.

Best wishes to my friend Tank! A true tour dog. Looking forward to meeting your puppy.

As you can imagine Joe and I will be at you soon with new music. Maybe we already are. Do your research. That's the funnest part of this game.

You know it!

Summer is Sweeping the Nation

We've been playing some awesome shows this summer. Old grocery stores in Pittsburgh, Piers on the Delaware River, fucking Montreal! After WMC Fest in Cleveland last month, the promoter, in a fit of ecstacy, stripped naked and ran a victory lap around the block the venue was on. He did it the second night too and got picked up by police. It looks like we'll be coming back through some of those places again on our August tour with Joyce Manor. Get high!

More immediately, we'll be hitting the road this weekend with the aptly named Band Name. Here's the details...

And So It Goes...

Photo: Sarah Blumenthal

Well, we somehow defeated all odds and made it home in one piece. It became a joke how much shit we ate on this tour. Nevertheless we had a blast. The shows we made it to were incredible (sorry West Virginia and Altoona) and the people that helped us out in our multiple times of need have a special new nook deep in our heart. Of course we all know that the real adventure is overcoming the obstacles. And we had plenty. In the words of Travis Shettel, "Life is what happens while we're making plans".

If you missed the Hop Along record release show last Friday you fucked up. It was amazing despite the heavy rain and flooding coming up through the floor drain in the basement kitchen at the church (are we cursed or something?). Joe and I had a great time rocking along with our new favorite album like we were bouncing up and down in our bedrooms. We'll be playing in the band again this weekend in Pittsburgh and Cleveland. This might be your last chance to catch this limited time, self-described super-group so don't let it pass you by. Here are the details:

June 8th 8PM
222 Ormsby Ave.
Pittsburgh, PA

Algernon Cadwallader
Hop Along
Ed Hoculi
Old Accusers

June 9th

See you soon!

Perennials

If you're wondering why we've been so quiet these past winter months, well, maybe you should mind your own stinking business. No, don't! Look at us! Check out what we did!

Joe recently finished up a major recording project with Philadelphia's beloved Hop Along. Get Disowned is the band's debut full length as a 3 piece and has been artfully tuned and de-tuned over the course of the past 2 years the Headroom. It was completed last month and we were so excited with the outcome that we asked if we could release the record. And so it was, that the first non-algernon release on Hot Green Records would be none other than Hop Along's Get Disowned, scheduled to drop on May 5th, 2012. Pre-orders are available now over at hotgreenrecords.com and will receive an ultra-limited cassette B side from the artist exclusive to pre-orders only.

When he doesn't have his nose in a book, Tank has been playing in Philadelphia super group, Stable Boys, with some other great players whose names are tied to bands like Snowing, Glocca Morra, and Kite Party. Their debut 7" is coming out April 20th on Evil Weevil Records and they have a demo cassette out now. Check them out below. They're evil!

Who is Mike Bell? Dangerous question. You might know Mike Bell from the 75:24 tape, his stint in Band Name, or from one of our previous tours. He's been called guy in the vest or guy with the shades or the tambourine guy (loud guy covered in beer). What he is overlooked as is the guy with the songs. Mike is an honest singer/songwriter whom I have collaborated with for many years. Joe and I have finally formed a proper backing band for him and just recorded our first 7" as a band, released heroically by Self Aware Records. You can download it here:
Mike Bell & the Movies "Stuck In A TV".

And now over to Steve for shows... Thanks Rudiger... looks like we've got a bunch of smelly bands moving in, circulating the east coast and gathering in hip towns and cities, crippling the local economy and drastically lowering anyone's chances of getting laid. A annual occurrence that we in the business call... Fest Season! We will be partying at the following...

April 6th & 7th MACRoCk in Harrisonburg, VA (macrock.org)

April 13th-15th Stay Sweet Fest in Richmond, VA (staysweetrva.wordpress.com)

April 20th-22nd Road To Ruin Fest in Philadelphia, PA (road2ruin.blogspot.com)

April 26th Culture Shock Pre-Fest at SUNY Purchase

May 18th & 19th Treasure Fest in Charlotte, NC (treasurefest.blogspot.com)

May 25th-27th BFOS Fest in Montreal

Further show listing posted to the right.

Thanks for reading!
